چکیده

GNSS is well known for its availability and accuracy but it suffers when operating in urban canyons, indoors as well as environments such as ports. This paper uses Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) measurements from two satellites over time to calculate the position of the receiver. The system was tested by masking out satellites to simulate buildings or objects along both sides blocking large segments of the sky. Experimental results show that the system is capable of achieving accuracy of within 10 meters even in the toughest scenarios, i.e. with only 10 degrees of the sky is visible.

Positioning Techniques with Two GNSS Satellites over Time

Being able to obtain the location of the GNSS receiver at any instance is often a privilege. In some applications, location information at all instances might not be so important as long as the receiver is able to make sure that it can tell where it is at a specific time. Applications such as ensuring children are at home/school or tracking shipping containers might fall into this category. Bot...

Using two GPS satellites to improve WiFi positioning accuracy in urban canyons

It is well known that a GPS receiver needs to “see” at least four satellites to provide a 3D fix solution. But in difficult environments such as an urban canyon, the number of “visible” satellites is often not enough. WiFi signals have been utilized for positioning mainly based on the fingerprinting technology. However, the accuracy of WiFi positioning outdoors is from several tens of meters to...

Accuracy Improvement of Tropospheric Delay Interpolation in RTK Networks

The effect of troposphere on the signals emitted from global navigation satellite system (GNSS) satellites, appears as an extra delay in the measurement of the signal traveling from the satellite to receiver. This delay depends on the temperature, pressure, humidity as well as the transmitter and receiver antennas location. In GNSS positioning, tropospheric delay effects on accuracy of differen...

Influence of GPS Satellites Cross-Correlation on the TDOA Measurements within the GNSS Environmental Monitoring System (GEMS)

As the importance of GNSS to civilian infrastructure increases, the ability to detect and localise sources of interference that disrupts its operation becomes increasingly important. In order to calculate the time-delay measurements in a Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) based localisation system for localising interference to GPS within the GNSS Environmental Monitoring System (GEMS), data col...
